On Friday, December 13th, the Peer Helpers of Sandwich Secondary School spent the day at Brock Elementary in Windsor for our annual Giving Tree celebration. Every year in the month of December, Peer Helpers of SSS (that's us!) go to Brock and help them write their wish lists for the holiday season. Once every child in the grade 4 class that we adopt for our school has made a wish list, we bring them all back to our own school and start working on making what they wish for a reality.
Every December, each class in the school adopts one child from Brock, along with their wish list. That class is responsible for raising enough money to purchase most of, if not all the items on the wish list--our goal is always to get as many items on the list as we can. This year, Sandwich did an outstanding job with fundraising for these kids, so way to go Sabres! Every gift bag looked incredible and the kids were so excited when they saw them!
All in all, our day at Brock was a great success! We had an awesome cookie making and hot chocolate drinking area for the kids to get creative while decorating their gingerbread treats, fun games and activities and of course, our present station where the kids even got a chance to meet Santa (Thanks so much, Mr. Carrick!). We want to give a big thank you to every student who participated in the Giving Tree and every class who adopted a child and gave them a holiday they will not soon forget. Every child had a smile put on their face because of you guys! Well done Sabres, and let's make next year an even greater success!
Happy Holidays!
